Elvis decides to take over the sewing machine
I looked around for a long time until I found this machine and was amazed that it was reasonably priced yet had a 9" opening and found out that it is a workhorse.
I am now on my second Janome 6500.
I figure I put more than 200,000 miles on the first one (I bought the first one my dealer had ever sold) and I went through two open-toed applique feet and also two free-motion feet. My dealer says he has never had anyone wear out feet like I do, but those are the two feet I use the most and I just wore them out!
He said he could keep the machine going for a few more years, but I am an art quilter and surface design artist (my nickname is "The Thread Lady") and I do judged quilts and they have to be absolutely perfect for the judges. I could tell that my constant used of embellishments and miles and miles of thread-work had taken its toll on the machine so I bought another one and gave my old one to a friend (who loves it and can't understand why I would get rid of it).
Janome is the only brand of machine I will ever buy again! I also have a Janome serger, a cover-pro machine and a Janome Magnolia 7330 which I take to classes instead of lugging around my 6500.
I am attaching a photo of my Janome 6500, which my cat Elvis thinks is his machine! This cat weighs 22 pounds, yet has no problem fitting through the opening of the machine. This proves that you can fit any size quilt through the wide opening!
