Holiday Feathered Star Quilt by Trudy Wasson
This quilt, Holiday Feathered Star, is an original design by my mother, Trudy Wasson.
She created it for the challenge of drafting this particular quilt pattern design in her Electric Quilt software and piecing all those pesky points. (No, she didn't paper piece it...I respected her for that, though I WOULD have done it that way...kids these days, right?!)
What she really wanted though, was a place to practice her free motion machine quilting and she did a stunning job. The quilting design is an original drawn by her just for this quilt.
The pictures show it just a bit, but she used several different colors of YLI's 100 weight silk thread for the free motion machine quilting (both in the bobbin and the needle). The feather quilting design, itself, is quilted in gold, but she echo quilted around all of the feathers with a red thread for an added bit of interest.
Do you think she succeeded?
When I get better pictures of the quilting, I will add them here so that you can see more.
This is truly a fabulously machine quilted quilt...and the piecing on that feathered star ain't too shabby either!
