This machine is discontinued so we bought ours online. We bought it to use with the Brother quilting frame. It is not a good match for that as the smaller throat means a constant shifting of the quilt on the frame.

However, for doing free motion quilting I love this machine. It is a straight stitch only, and it has the power to do it quickly. Somehow this machine just seems to stitch better than my more expensive machines as there is no movement in the shank from side to side. I only wish it came with a pushbutton stop and start as an alternative to a foot control.

So this my favourite Brother. And we have four.

But it does not do zig-zag or other fancy stitches.
