Bernina Activa 220

I hate this machine. With a passion. Every time I run out of bobbin thread, or if I want to change the thread, period, it takes a half hour to get going again. I have to clean it, oil it, change the bobbin and the case, turn it on and off three times, spin in counter-clockwise circles, knock on wood. And MAYBE it will work without jamming. Usually not.

It has been maintained. It has been repaired (too many times to count).

Today it decided to eat my fabric, and then jam inside the hole so that I could not get the extension off.

So I threw it across the room.

Pieces went flying. It felt good.

I can do more with a $100 Singer with 5 stitches than I can with an expensive piece of junk that doesn't even give me ONE stitch.

This thing SUCKS.

If you want aggravation in your life, buy one of these.

This machine was dump worthy. I asked my husband to poo on it and take it to the pub.

I got a score for the old crapper and was happy with that.

I am so sorry you have had such a bad experience. I have had 3 Bernias and never had a bad day sewing on any of them. Not once have they let me down sewing silk to leather.

I have had a machine that made me want to throw it like that but it wasn't a Bernias!

Maybe you got a lemon like a bad car..

I would take it back and tell them you need one that works

Or tell them to take it home and sew on it for 1 hour

If they last that long

What a great commercial that would be..

I bought my 220 when it was first available. It has never given me one second of trouble, has a nice stitch and is reliable and easy to use. I have been looking for a used 220 for my granddaughter, who is just beginning to sew and would recommend it to anyone that needs a simple machine.

I have owned 3 Berninas. No problems with any of them. I think you just got a bad one. Sorry.
